Pretty Floral Paper Cut Cards

This card project is straightforward to make. All you need is white card stock, black card stock, the cutting files available for download or a Xacto knife and some spray adhesive.

The art of paper cutting has been around as long as there has been paper and can be traced back to the 6th century in China.

The Germans called the art of paper cutting Scherenschnitten, and other cultures have their names and styles of the art form. There is paper cutting revival today, and many beautiful contemporary works of paper cut art can be found on the internet and in published books.Take a look at the overwhelming number of inspirational books available on the topic at Amazon.com  You will be amazed at the number of talented people practicing the craft.

Paper cut art can be as intricate or as easy as you want! I tried to keep the cutting details of this card project simple enough so that everyone could get good results, but detailed enough to be able to be framed as a piece of artwork if desired. So let’s get started and make some beautiful note cards.

Zentangle Inspired Valentine Card

If you have followed some of my previous posts, you know that I am a big fan of doodle and Zentangle inspired art. This art form is one of the best stress relievers out there and is so easy to do. Anyone can get beautiful results! Give it a try sometime; I promise you will love it!

If you want to learn how to create your own beautiful works of art, I suggest you check out the Zentangle site and read some of the Zentangle books such as this: Joy of Zentangle: Drawing Your Way to Increased Creativity, Focus, and Well-Being These sites have excellent instructions and design ideas.

I was in a doodle art kind of mood today and decided to work on what I consider an upscale type of Valentine card. I wanted it to be unique and different from the run of the mill cards out there, so I come up with this heart, pretty which I am offering as a free printable. I have also included die cut files for the petal/pochette envelope that surrounds the card. Make this card for your true love following the directions below!

Supplies:

  • 12x 12 sheet of red card stock
8.5 x 11 sheet of cream card stock
  • double sided tape
  • scissors and or die cut
  • beautiful ribbon

Instructions:

  1. Download the free printable and die cut files here.
  2. Print the heart on cream colored card stock.
  3. Cut the heart on the outside lines. You should now have a square that measures 5.125 x 5.125 inches.
  4. Cut out the petal/pochette envelope from 12 x 12 red card stock.
  5. Attach the heart to the middle of the petal envelope with double sided tape.
  6. Fold the envelope using the above photo for guidance.
  7. Tie the envelope with a pretty ribbon.

Now give the card to someone you care about! Wasn’t that easy?

Diy Christmas Tree Greeting Card

I prefer the “less is more” design approach to my craft projects. This paper craft project features a simple design that is also quick and easy to make.
Just download and print the template on the backside of an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of Silver Starburst specialty paper (available at JoAnn’s fabrics and crafts store) and cut out. Line with an 8.5″ 11″ piece of paper that has been trimmed one-quarter inch all around. Use a paper punch to cut red dots from paper and glue the dots onto the front of the card as in the photo below.

That’s it. Now you have a beautiful handmade Christmas Card that was quick and easy to make to give to your friends and family
