The season is coming up for graduation parties and open houses. For those of us that enjoyed being Moms, it is bittersweet. Although we are proud that our children are achieving these milestones in their lives, it also marks the time that they no longer will be us on a daily basis.
College is just around the corner, and the start of our children’s independent lives is a reality we Moms have to accept. Can I say empty nest syndrome?
Make your child an autograph book. All the guests at your kid’s party can write congratulatory wishes for the graduate, and pictures can be added later. Your child will be able to look back and enjoy the memories.
The autograph book is made from a Strathmore drawing pad. The pages are acid-free, so they will keep a long time, and won’t turn yellow. I made mine quiet and understated, but you don’t have to.
Decorate the art pad with your favorite scrapbooking embellishments, and make it as plain or fancy as you want. You could use your child’s school colors etc.
Supplies:
- Strathmore drawing pad
- Adhesive spray
- cutting tools
- Scrapbooking paper
- Scrapbooking embellishments of your choice
Instructions:
- 1.Gently pull the front and back covers out of the metal coil binding, making sure you don’t destroy it.
- Cover the back and front covers with scrapbook paper and embellishment of your choice. (I sprayed the front and back covers with spray adhesive, and then applied the scrapbook paper.)
- Cut out the holes using a Xacto knife.
- Put the covers back onto the metal binding.
- I attached a graduation tassel, to the coil binding, and applied foil numbers to the front cover. The tassel is made by Jolie. I found both of the products at Hobby Lobby, but I am sure they can be purchased at most craft supply stores.
- Now pull out that book at your party and have your guests write their sentiments!!!
