Crafting Tips and Tricks to Bring Your Designs to Higher Levels
If you are a person who enjoys crafting, you most likely have some level of artistic talent. No matter what degree of skill you have, you can always develop it to the next level.It is not that hard to improve your work dramatically. It just takes a little time and effort on your part.
I would like to share some crafting tips and tricks that have helped me improve my artistic abilities and crafting skills throughout the years. Follow these easy steps and you will be astounded how much better your arts and crafts will be, not that they aren’t amazing already!
- Tutorials
The internet is truly one of the greatest inventions ever. You can find information that shows you how to do just about anything. All you have to do is enter “How to improve my artistic style” into the Google search engine, and hundreds of articles and tutorials with crafting tips and tricks will pop up that provide priceless information for free.
Crafters can learn how to scrapbook, make jewelry, master stamping techniques and more. Technically challenged people can learn how to draw with Illustrator, Photoshop, Gimp and many other types digital drawing software. If you are having a problem or issue with your arts and crafts project, chances are someone else has encountered the same problem and posted the solution on the net. Just because it is free, doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable information.
- Books
Take a trip to the library and look up art instruction books that teach how to improve drawing and art skills in general. Read some books about the art masters for inspiration. The library is another of the world’s free sources of valuable information.
- Art Classes
I would highly recommend attending art classes if you can. You will be surrounded by like-minded people, and will receive instructive suggestions,critiques and inspiration from your instructor and fellow students.They are always fun and motivating. Art classes don’t have to cost that much. You can find good classes at your local community college, art centers, galleries and even your local crafts store.
Classes can provide valuable instruction and direction. Where else can you learn about the rule of thirds, negative space, color, and rhythm? A solid understanding of the basics will help improve your work.
- Use Photos as a Reference
Sometimes using photos can give you a basic reference to improve your drawing skills. It is hard to draw from memory, and looking at a picture can help you visualize. You don’t have to draw your item exactly like the photograph, just use it as a reference. Observe the lines and shapes and you can have a lovely stylized version of your image.
- Study the Art of Someone Your Admire
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Take a look at the arts and crafts works you admire. What colors, shapes and textures do they use? What is it that establishes their style? You can learn a lot from other people works, but remember to use them as a learning tool. Don’t copy their style, but use it as a stepping stone to developing your own.
- Practice
One of the simplest and powerful crafting tips and tricks is practice. No one possesses tremendous artistic skill as a young child. It has to be developed. The only way to get better is to practice, practice, and then practice some more. It is the only way to improve. So keep on trying and don’t give up. Soon your work will be looking better and better. You will be amazed.
- Take Time to Nurture Your Artistic Soul
Step away from your work.Take the time to go out and appreciate nature and all of the magnificence of our world. When your soul connects with the beauty of our world, you will be inspired to develop greater works of art. Disconnect from all the stress and negative aspects of life for a time. Take a mental vacation. Fill your soul with beauty and your will be pouring it into your work.
I have given you some basic crafting tips and tricks to improve your work, but only you can put it into practice. Now go out there and put these skills to use. You will be astonished by how much better your craft projects will look.
